Covid-19 Protocols & Procedures

Due to the current climate we have had to implement new procedures and protocols at Brent Dental Practice to ensure that all staff & patients are kept as safe as possible.

See below the changes that we have made in the practice to ensure a safe dental visit.

If you have any concerns, please contact the practice.

You must wear a mask whilst walking through the practice for your appointment.
Please note we will not tolerate abusive behaviour towards staff due to following the below protocols.

No Waiting Facilities

Please attend your appointment as close to the time you have been allocated. We no longer provide a waiting area, therefore you will have to wait outside for your appointment. Unfortunately this is regardless of the weather.

We have a locked door policy which means the doors will be locked and therefore you will be required to knock upon arrival.

If you do arrive early, please wait in your car.

Please Attend Alone

If you are over the age of 18 you will need to attend the appointment alone. No children or any other adults can accompany you on the appointment. Please ensure you seek childcare arrangements prior to your appointment.

We need to ensure that there are as few people on site as possible so that staff have adequate working space & social distancing requirements are met.

Temperature Check

We will temperature check you on arrival. As Covid-19 symptoms may display a temperature we will need to check this as soon as you step in to the practice. Any temperature above normal, we will need to turn you away from your appointment and we advise that you contact 111.

Sanitise Your Hands

You will be required to sanitise your hands once your temperature has been checked. This is to ensure that any bacteria has been killed. However, please avoid touching any door handles etc.

Belongings

If you bring any valuables, coats, jackets etc. You will be required to remove them and place them in a sanitised box. Please be assured the belongings box are thoroughly sanitised between every patient. Belongings may no longer be placed on the floor in the surgery.

Covid-19 Symptoms

It is your responsibility to inform the practice if you have any covid-19 symptoms or if anyone in your family are suffering from any symptoms. If you have been asked to self-isolate you must NOT attend any appointments. Please advise reception of any of these and we can arrange an alternative for you. This is highly important to keep all staff and patients safe at all times.

We do hold the right to turn away any patients should we feel that there is a risk of Covid-19 and all staff will adhere to the protocols. Please bear this in mind when attending your appointment at Brent Dental Practice.

You will be asked the following questions upon arrival:

- Do you have any Covid symptoms?
- Does anyone in your household have any Covid symptoms?
- Have you or anyone in your household been asked to self-isolate?
- Have you travelled abroad recently?
- Do you have any high temperature, new continuous cough or any loss of taste or smell?

Additional Information

Staff will be wearing more PPE than usual this is to ensure safety of themselves during operation of treatments and also protection for the patients.

We have to put surgeries out of use after aerosol generating procedures due to a fallow time guidance we follow as part of our protocol. Dentists will be using various rooms for every appointment. In order to reduce fallow time we are also offering hand scaling rather than ultrasonic scaling. Private hygiene cleans can be offered for £70 where we spend longer with the patient to remove any staining from the teeth.
